SHOWSTOPPERS CONVENTION

October 5 - 6, 2024

DESCRIPTION:

We’ve been attending the Showstoppers Convention for 15 years! This is an event that is the dancers’ favorite of the year. Showstoppers Convention begins on Saturday at approximately 7:30 am and ends on Sunday around 3:00 pm. Dancers will learn different styles of dances every hour on the hour from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. All classes are meant to challenge and inspire your dancers. Although it sounds exhausting, Showstoppers does an amazing job of keeping the energy and encouragement for the dancers.

SCHEDULE:

The full schedule is available 2 weeks prior to the event. See the following pages for a Sample Schedule of the weekend. Dancers will have classes all day on Saturday and Sunday.

**It is a very long weekend, so dancers are excused to leave after lunch on Sunday to go home and get homework done/ready for the week. Please text Miss Kim when you leave.**

 

Arrival Friday OR Saturday 

You can stay at the Kalahari or any other surrounding hotel.  Classes begin Saturday October 5 at 7:00/7:30am.  You can either drive up Friday night or early Saturday morning.  If you do drive up early on Saturday please make sure your dancer has time to find the ballrooms and get settled.  In the past the block of rooms does sell out. The exact schedule times are posted 2 weeks prior to the event.

 

SATURDAY AM MEETING/WRISTBANDS:

Dancers will need to pick up a wristband from Miss Kim before the beginning of class. 15 minutes prior to their start time, meet Miss Kim at the entrance of the convention center. On the day of the convention, Miss Kim will send text messages to the team group chats detailing where is located for pick up.

LUNCH:

Parents should make sure their child has lunch for the convention. Some kids pack a lunch from home, and other parents buy lunch from Wisconsin Dells and drop it off to their child at the convention center. (Jimmy Johns, Noodles and Company, Qdoba, ect.) They do have a hot lunch at the convention, however, the lines do get very long so plan ahead for lunch. Also, please check when your dancer has lunch because different age groups eat at different times. Dancers will meet in the hallway and eat as a group.

PICK UP DANCERS:

Parents should arrive 10 minutes before classes end and meet in the ballroom where their dancer is.

Saturday Evening 

Dancers will be done with classes around 4pm and will have the rest of the night to use the water park, game room, eat and rest!  In most cases the kids will have big ideas, but after they eat dinner, get tired and crash.  They have a long day of dancing the next day so we suggest going to be at a reasonable hour so they are ready to move on Sunday.

Sunday Classes
On Sunday classes begin at 7:30am so dancers should be up early! Classes go until about 3pm but they are allowed to leave at their “lunch” time.  It is a long weekend and dancers have to get to school on Monday. If you leave prior to the end, just make sure to text Ms Kim on your way out so she knows your dancer is accounted for.

PARENTS VIEWING:

Parents can come and go as they please, there are chairs around the perimeter of the ballrooms. There is no fee for parent observation and parents do not need a wristband

CHAPERONE:

Miss Kim will be present the whole weekend, but she travels between the four rooms as well as attends teacher classes. If you would prefer your dancer to have a chaperone, please plan on staying in the room for the duration of the weekend.

There are water fountains to fill your water bottles throughout the day - even with lunch, dancers get hungry so add a few extra snacks in their bag for the day - Showstoppers has very affordable merchandise, which is located in the Junior room if your dancer would like to purchase Showstoppers merch.

Mini - Junior - Senior Company Members 
Book your hotel for the Showstoppers Dance Convention on July 15th, 2024 (October 5-6) You can stay at the Kalahari or any surrounding hotel.

Junior - Senior Elite Company Members 
Elite dancers who would like to participate in Showstoppers Dance Convention should also book their hotel.  This is not required and is an additional add on event for these teams (See the registration form)

NEW HOTEL - AVID

In the parking lot of the Kalahari right by the movie theater and Dunkin Doughnuts, there is another brand new hotel!  It was open when we were up there for nationals in June. Below is that hotel info as well.  When I looked it was $112/night
